A complicated topic with lots of things to cover. Leave comments for anything specific you would like covered. Here's a link to the reversible template I made to make drilling the acrylic easier studio.ua-cam.com/users/videoxEiBpi-Di3w/edit
Your fish room is looking amazing.
Have you any plans to make a new DIY LED video. My small outdoor security light with a DIY diffuser that I've had on my tank for at least 5 years has given up so I've dug-out one I made with 12v strips for a much smaller tank based on your designs. I've looked back and those videos are 6-7 years old now are you still using the same sort of strip etc
Thanks for the awesome update Fishman. Awesome and wonderful growth going on over there. We missed the update yesterday because we were the guardians game they were playing some fellas from up north called the Blue Jays. It was a good game. The guardians won😀😀💪💪👍👍 Cleveland baby!!
Only the best from you Eric
I'm sure your local fish stores would be very happy to take any large java ferns off your hands.
Great look at your projects Eric! That was a monster clump of Java fern from your big filter that’s awesome
GOOD MORNING Eric ! the fish room is looking great ! how's the weather up there in the great white north? its about 9 hundred degrees here already....
Good morning Tony! We just finished a heat wave. So glad it's over, for now, as I was working outside and have more to come
I try NOT to be up at 5am,..... but when I am going to be up for for a while longer, lol. (Much easier when I am in the Philippines)
Hey Ray! 5 am would be a bit too early for me as well lol!
Good morning Fish man catching up with things after a proper spoiling for Father’s Day weekend. I only hope yours went as well as mine did…… thanks for showing us how you set up this amazing tower. We hope it crushes and we hope you’re having a great week.
Hey guys! So glad you had a great father's day. Have a great week as well
Works like a charm found a old ballon pump it just needs minimal pressure and back working thanks
So glad to here that!
Happy father's day brother, this was a very good and creative piece...blessings big boss
Thanks so much Raliegh! Hope yours went went well too
Looking forward to your selective guppy breeding!
Thanks! I really like healthy active guppies; but clients want good looking ones. So I'm going to try and do both
❤😊
Thanks so much!
❤❤
Thanks so much!
I love Kribs and always will, but have dialed back how many I keep. They breed soooo much when happy. It is a blessing snd a curse. I have kept only males or only females together, and they just don't act the same as when both sexes are kept together. So, I will have fry here and there to contend with 😁 Thank you for the update. Your fishroom is always hopping with good stuff!
Thanks so much for coming by! Yes. Kribs are a lovely fish. They unfortunately have no commercial value. I will keep this colony going because I like them, but I will have to limit their breeding.
Happy Fathers Day!!! 👋
And to you my friend!
What a great aquarium!
Thanks ever so much!
Hi Fishman! You always create beautiful aquariums!
That's so very kind of you! Have a wonderful week!
👍Have you tried with a cone yet? For exampel with one of those used for discus eggs?
Yes. It's in the videos somewhere. Sorry, but it's been so long since these that I couldn't find it
Looking good, I'm looking forward to seeing your angels again.
Me too Don! I want to breed them more and not just because I have use for them
❤❤👍👍
Thanks so much!
I'm looking forward to seeing the new splash guards. I'm also intrigued with the teaser about your trying something new for breeding. I've found some White Clouds with amazing colours flashes of yellow green blue and purple with quite large fin's 🥰and the breeder is in driving distance. They are a little bit expensive and ideally I'd like a school of 30+ I'm going to get 10 🤞he will let me have a few good females
Hey Colin! Yes. I'm trying to see if covering the bubbling will be enough, instead of covering the whole tank. Those white clouds sound impressive. Best of luck with them
Stay vigilant on the duck weed war! Tanks looking good. Couple of questions if I may? Do you test your tanks for gh/kh or tds? Have you done a fluidised/moving bed filter build?
No kidding about the duckweed. It is so hard to completely be rid of it. I tested the tap water here years ago. I don't remember the values, but I found it to be acceptable for most fish. I do tweek it with coral for those who like harder, more alkali water. Yes. I've made many fluidized bed filters. This was many years ago. I think I might have a video up about them, but I couldn't find it. They are great as long as there are no power failures. Sometimes when they settle out they can go anaerobic (depending on the media)
I’m trying to do this for my tank, thanks for the tips
Glad you liked it!
Nice video sharing ❤❤❤ I liked it very much 🎉🎉🎉 Keep it up of your work ❤❤Good luck ❤May God bless you to have a beautiful success in life🥰❤👉already subscribed👈👍 9:26
Thanks so much!
Question, what are you using to collect the duck week? I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks!
I use a small plastic tub the size of a small yogurt container. I dip it in the tank so the lip just goes bellow the surface and it draws the duckweed in. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
When I see your videos I miss my tanks! Looking good Eric.
That's my evil plan Jim. I want to draw you back into the hobby
Ha. I live it vicariously through the fish my clients catch and the bait I deal on a daily basis.
Looks awesome man and that humpback dude is neat! Keep up the duckweed war Fishman!
Thanks guys! If only I could get at least one female
I’m gonna need to make something like this
Let me know how it goes
There’s a first time for everything Fishman! Love the ladies reaction 😆😆
You're certainly watching some old videos lol!
I like the top idea, it keeps all that commotion in the tank. I've been using a filter with just filter floss to polish some tanks.
Floss is great for polishing water! Thanks for coming by Don!
Rare to find you in my feed. Luckily, but rarely, I am still awake when the new video posts at 5-6 AM and catch them then.
Funny how that works! Thanks for taking the time!
The war on duckweed rages on….nice work Fish man…. Love the no splashy action here man totally totally cool idea.
Still will probably lose the war lol. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy your videos. Your ability to grow plants without co2 or fertilizers amazes me.
Thanks so much!
I've found i take my hob filters and fill them up with lava rock and some plants. Water stays crystal clear
Yes. I've done that too. The only issues I've ever had with that kind of setup is when the roots get into the impeller and stop it. Thanks for coming by!
Very cool Eric, I’ve been waiting to see the finished product. 😁👍
Thanks so much Patty!
Greetings from Jamaica Eric. Thanks for the share
Always a pleasure Raliegh!
Are root tabs being used in the gravel?
No root tabs and no ferts. Thanks for watching!
I’ve used dried duckweed as shrimp food but you’re right, times too short to deal with it. Good luck in your ‘war on weed’
It's too bad it's such a pain as it does have it's uses. Thanks for watching!
Hi grate vid I'm happy that you have managed to free up some of your time to keep sharing. Could you please make a video all about RO water filters you recommend using one sometime ago. I've resisted going down that route more in favour of collecting rain water or filling drums at local springs. What I've found out is worrying because of the extensive Cole mining here even spring water isn't safe. I've been looking at RO filters but I'm confused.
Hey Colin! It's been some time since I've used RO as our water here is fine for most fish. I'm not sure what brands would be available to you. The only recommendation I would make would be to use a stand alone model with a fine prefilter, carbon filter and an ion exchange reson before it goes to the membrane. This style works best and you can use it to fill a barrel. The systems used for a whole house are expensive and you go through cartridges quite quickly. Hope that helps
Under gravel works similar to a septic system in your yard
More flow, but yes
@@FishmanEricRussell ive been keeping fish since 1963 tried everything, under gravel was an upgrade to a glass wool corner filter in the mid 60's
Full watch and view!
Always a pleasure!
It's pretty cool to see so many functioning tanks and pipes ect, probably built by the man himself. A lot to learn here!
Thanks so much! Much appreciated!
That a lot of duck weed!!! The Kribs look great!! 👍👍👍
Such a crazy amount. Thanks for coming by Don!
This old timey technique is very tricky and not reccomended for beginners. It’s almost impossible to find anyone that uses this technique today because it’s difficult to implement and the results are iffy for most people who are willing to try it.
Unfortunately I can't comment on the difficulty of using this style for beginners, as I've been doing this a long time. It seems quite straight forward and I do know relative beginners who use UGs and swear by them
Thanks for the video! How do you feel about Anacharis? I have not seen any in your tanks. Did I overlook it? I prefer it to hornwort because hornwort seems to shed a lot of needles for me although hornwort grows faster.
I like anacharis. The problem here is that it was banned for a long time as they thought it was invasive. I've seen it offered from time to time in recent years. I will have to give it a try. Thanks for the thought and for watching!
It’s got a lot of B12 you can put it in smoothie man🌱🌱💪💪😀👍👍
Never been tempted lol! My mbuna love it though
You can do it Fishman!! 🌱🌱💪💪😀😀👍👍
If only I was confident. Thanks for coming by guys!
wow that is an insane ammount of duckweed. I don't wanna get any in my tank, I hope to get some fast growing hornwort and guppy grass. good looking mbuna. yet another good video sir.
Thanks ever so much!
Good luck with your war on duckweed! I recently started to dehydrate it and am going to incorporate it into snello when I make it 😁 I don't keep goldfish anymore, but when I did, they ate most of it.
It does have it's uses if it weren't such a nuisance when gets out of control.
Leaned a ton from having aquariums that has been blessing dealing with bait on a daily basis. “Tanks” for keeping me abreast of what’s going on in your world
Always a pleasure my friend!
